DECEMBER 17, 1903| KITTY HAWK, NC - In this series featuring paintings, drawings and video works defiant, forlorn, and sometimes lost black children are isolated against backdrops of early 20th ideals of American progress: dirigibles, biplanes and other aircraft. The images share a common landscape, confronting the viewer with the spectacle of flight technology and the simultaneous situation of workers, the disenfranchised and the indigent that made industry possible.

My Grandfathter was a Leaf
My Grandfater was a Leaf is a video project currently in the planning stages that examines the mysteries hidden in my family tree. The project will also explore such question as how photos depicting ancestors and realitives connect one to a larger oral and textual history, and how a single photo might create a sense of belonging and provide the holder a family myth.
